Hiyas!

I'm a rather odd person, I s'ppose. Well, that's what people tell me anyways. More politely though. LOL

*scratches her head*

Well, I s'ppose I could start with who I am, rather than what I am. LOL Let's start with the basics, ne?

I'm 21, Filipino and I live in Australia (Sydney to be exact). I'm a student at Sydney University. Go USYD! *cough* Anyways. LOL I've finished doing a Bachelor of Science cuz I'm too lazy to speciallise, though I'm majoring in Psychology. That and I didn't do chemistry or physics; they're both too hard for me. That and my 8th grade teacher told me that I was a failure at them T_T How cruel of her to say so! Even if it was true... LOL Psychology is really very fun and quite entertaining! It's interesting to read about all that stuff like abnormal psychology and the debates as to how we actually process stimuli. I want to be a children's or criminal psychologist at the end of it all. My twin brother does psychology too and he wants to become a clinical or abnormal psychologist. It's a good thing we don't have to compete cuz he's just SO much smarter than me... But on the upside, I don't get as stressed as he does! LOL I'm so pathetic... really I am. LOL I'm doing a Master of Teaching (Primary) for the next two years so I'm still a student. Isn't that fun? LOL

It's quite sad though, while I did a Science degree, my best subject is an Arts one, Japanese. But Japanese is so much easier than my other subjects! It's pretty to listen to, easy to speak and interesting to learn! Admittedly, kanji is rather difficult at times, but hiragana and katakana's easy as. It's easier to understand that some science stuff. LOL

I mean really, as much as I like biology, I just don't care about how certain areas of the world became salinised or anything like that. Of course, once we started on genetics and anatomy, I was a lot happier. LOL

Maths was HELL for me cuz I'm kinda dumb and it never really made that much sense to me. Okay, the matrices and linear algebra was easy, but the calculus was a smidge too difficult for me to comprehend, but I passed so I never have to do it again! LOL

My interests include anime, reading (mostly occult, sci-fi and fantasy), anime, listening to music, anime, reading and writing fanfics and Tae Kwon do.

I have a more than... er, healthy interest in anime. At least, that's what my parents tell me. First it was 'stop being such a hyper active child', then it was 'go read more books', then it was 'stop being such a book worm', then it was 'study more', then when I finally find something that allows me to both socialise and entertain myself without asking them for money, they get all frowny. Really, what do they expect, mm? At least my Mom's better with it. Daddy's convinced anime's some sort of cult that's waiting for us to be sucked in! He's such an odd pickle, Daddy is. LOL My favourite anime would have to be Ranma 1/2. It was my first love and has remained so since I was in 5th grade! It's hilarious and I feel so sorry for Ranma (who, as a side note, is incredibly cute! LOL In both forms too! LOL). I was really quite into 3x3 Eyes for a while, but I think the whole demon thing creeped my Mom out. I really, really like Ah! My Goddess and Tenchi Muyo and Slayers. Admittedly, their 'older' animes, but a few of the new ones are just really bad. Chrono Crusade's my newest kick! LOL

I've got a rather, er, large collection of anime DVDs, an enourmous collection of manga and a crap load of soundtracks. LOL I'm so pathetic... all my lovely, hard earned cash goes to anime. Well, not all. I do save some for the proverbial rainy day. Wouldn't want to end up broke and not able to pay for anime, would I? LOL

To be honest, my interst in Japanese stems from my interest in anime. I think that some things are lost in translation and the voice actors in Japanese and English are incredibly different. It's very fascinating to heard the Japanese and read the subtitles when you KNOW that they're not saying the same thing. LOL I love that...

The books I tend to lean towards are the more random than anything else. I love the Brainship series by... er, who was it? Anne McCaffrey? Yeah, Anne MacCaffrey. Though my favourite in the series is The Ship Who Searched. It was very good to read. A VERY close second was The Ship Who Fought, though I don't like the ending... LOL I VERY much love occult novels like the ones written by Anne Rice (though I think her later novels lacked the same life as her earlier ones, no pun intended. LOL). I haven't gotten around to reading the Alicia Blade series, but I'm told that it's decent. The first few books anyways. Just like anime, My interest in the occult goes beyond fiction, I love to read about the history and mythology behind it all, especially the 'dark' creatures like werewolves and vampires and other such entites of the night. I'd love to be able to cast spells and the like, but with my lack of discipline, I'd prolly land myself in another dimension or just plain dead. LOL Harry Potter, while not the best series I've ever read by a long shot, I must admit that it's simplistic representation of magic is incredibly entertaining and interesting, though the characters are a bit... *shrugs* Go Slytherin! Kick Gryffindor's butt to the next century! LOL I LOVE The LotR. I just love the characters, the storyline the sheer HISTORY behind it all! I find it quite fascinating and incredibly entertaining to read. The character interaction is just fabulous and the characters themselves... (*sighs dreamily* Legolas... LOL) they're just fantastic! LOL

The music I tend to listen to is actually in Japanese. *shrugs* Like I said, it sounds nicer. And I sound better singing in Japanese than in English. LOL Sometimes. LOL I dunno, if you've ever read the lyrics to quite a few Japanese songs, they have a certain depth that quite a few pop songs just can't touch. Take Ayumi Hamasaki's 'Moments'. It's a beautiful song, filled with longing and love. If you ever listen to a Japanese song, listen to that one. It's just beautiful. She hits the chorus wonderfully and with emotion. Gackt, while he can be a little... er, odd, he can sing very well. I love 'Vanilla' and 'Marmalade'. 'Vanilla' because it's very blunt in it's desire and playful and 'Marmalade' because there's something so... I forget. LOL Hikaru Utada's very good too, but then again, anyone who's listened to Japanese music knows Hikaru Utada! I love her 'Can You Keep A Secret'. Very nice. LOL 'Silent Jealousy' by X Japan is really good too. Nice drumming!

Quite a few of the songs I listen to are from animes, even if I don't like the anime itself. I have a LOT from Ranma 1/2, Tenchi Muyo, Sailor Moon (one of the animes I don't particularly like), Chrono Crusade, Get Backers, Tekuu no Escaflowne... Ah, a whole lot more. LOL But my favourite would have to be 'Shell' by Bana from Witch Hunter Robin. It just sends shivers down my spine! I love it! LOL

Another one of my vices is reading fanfics. I read a LOT of them. To be honest, most of the fanfics I read are slash/yaoi/shounen ai. There are a few series where I enjoy shoujo ai/femslash like in Read or Die. Do you want to know where the term 'slash' came from? It came from the first slash fics concerning Captain Krik and Spock. See, it was Kirk/(slash)Spock. Isn't that an interesting bit of trivia? LOL Yaoi is actually YAOI which stands for "yama-nashi ochi-nashi imi-nashi", which can be roughly translated as "no climax, no resolution, no meaning", though I don't agree with the no meaning thing. *shrugs* LOL Shounen ai is less complicated, it literally means "boy love". And that, ladies and gentlemen is your lesson in Japanese slang! LOL

Ah, I do Tae Kwon Do to keep fit but it's really, really fun. I'm not a particularly intimidating person so it's always good to have something like that under my belt, no pun intended. LOL It's very fun, fun, fun. All the kids (that is, my twin, little brother and I) do it together. I also work a bit with the bo staff. It's interesting but kinda painful. I have bruises from where I didn't spin it properly and wacked myself. LOL

Oh! And I love video games! I'm very fond of Starcraft and Warcraft, though I'm not too good at either. LOL I play a lot of fighting games like Street Fighter II and Soul Calibur and DoA and I'm better at those than the other two aforementioned games. Kinda. LOL I love Legend of Zelda and Super Mario. *sighs dreamily* Link is just so hot... LOL

Um... I think that's just about it really... LOL ^_^
